YMCA Cedar Glen Outdoor Centre is located on 263 acres of breathtaking countryside.  Only 40 minutes from downtown Toronto, it is the perfect backdrop for individuals and families to experience the outdoors!  We are excited to offer day and overnight experiences for both individuals and families to enjoy all year round.  Some of our programs may be impacted as we help contain the spread of COVID-19. Trail passes are available Saturdays and Sundays, year-round. Passes must be purchased in advance – they will not be sold onsite.

Trail passes can be purchased up to 72-hours in advance of the day you would like to come, subject to availability.

Hours of Operation

Our winter hours of operation are: 10:00am to 4:00pm.

• Youth (4 to 17): $5.00 plus HST

We have a number of fire pits on our site you can reserve and enhance your experience. With a campfire reservation, you will be able to enjoy having a space on our site for your own to rest, hang out and warm up! With every campfire reservation, you will have exclusive access to the following:

Once you are ready to purchase your trail pass(es), please contact us and let us know the dates that you are interested in and we will confirm our availability.

We will provide you with a registration form to complete so we can learn more about you/your family. You will be charged in full for your passes upon booking.

Washrooms will be available for visitors to use inside our Main Lodge.

All guests will be required to complete a health-screening and temperature check upon arrival.

Once you have arrived in our parking lot, we ask that you give us a call (a number will be provided in advance) and someone on our team will come meet you and get you checked-in.

When packing for your visit, the most important thing is to prepare for all types of weather including rain, sunshine, extreme cold & more. In order to enjoy a comfortable experience, please review the daily weather forecast, as you prepare for your visit.

Some essentials to consider:

Family Retreat

Our Family Retreat program is a unique opportunity for your family to come together with other families in a COVID safe environment and experience the outdoors, all while going through an exciting schedule of facilitated outdoor programs. We will have both weekend or week-long options available this December and February!

Here are a few points to mention about our Family Retreats that we feel would be helpful:

• Each morning at breakfast all families will be presented with optional program to sign up for and participate in throughout the day

• All programs and activities are not mandatory so feel free to explore and experience our site on your own!

• All meals and activities will be a shared experience with other families participating as part of the retreat. We will be following all updated COVID guidelines indoors and outdoors throughout your visit.

• Every evening after dinner there will be an opportunity for all families to come together to participate in fun group games, campfires and more

Here are some program options that may be scheduled during your trip:

Climbing Wall

An exciting opportunity to view our site from above by challenging yourself with our Climbing Wall! All harnessing, helmets and other equipment is provided.

Map & Compass Orienteering

Map Orienteering is a scavenger hunt around our site. Search for and collect as many clues as you can! Compass Orienteering will outline the features of a compass, you will learn how to properly use them and complete multiple challenges.

Shelter Building

Learn and practice building a shelter that can provide warmth and protection from the elements in a survival situation.

Fire Building

Lean different methods to build and light a campfire all on your own!

Biking (Seasonal)

Our staff will guide you through a wide range of trails throughout our site. All bikes, helmets and necessary equipment is provided.

Swimming (July - September)

Enjoy a refreshing swim in our pool! All youth swimmers will complete a swim test with our lifeguards at the start of this activity. Must be scheduled in advance - please inquire about availability when booking.

Tobogganing (December to March)

Enjoy the outdoors and have some good old fashioned fun sliding down one of our snowy hills! Small toboggans will be provided.

Once you are ready to proceed, please contact us and let us know which Family Retreat program that you are interested in and we will confirm our availability.

We will provide you with a registration form to complete so we can learn more about you/your family. You will be charged in full for your Family Retreat program upon booking.

All accommodations and shared spaces will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized prior to any Family Retreat guests arriving. During your stay, our team will focus on regularly cleaning and sanitizing high touch/shared items and washrooms across our site.

We are happy to provide more details about our cleaning and sanitizing equipment, if required.

Arrival

All guests will be required to complete a health screening and temperature check up on arrival. Upon arrival, a check in station will be set up, and all guests will be asked to make this their first stop. Once checked in, our team will be happy to direct you to your accommodation so you can get settled.

Departure

All guests will be expected to vacate site once the program has come to an end on the final day. Staff will be available to assist with check out, if required.

When packing for your visit, the most important thing to prepare for is all types of weather – including rain, sun, warm or hot days, and cool evenings. Before you arrive, please review the local weather forecast and be sure to pack appropriately. Closed toed footwear will be required for most program activities, and flip flops/croc style shoes are not recommended on the property.

Cottage Rental

Our cottage is an opportunity for families to visit our site for an overnight trip! Kaufman Cottage is a beautiful space tucked away on our Tablelands, just along the tree-line with direct access to hiking trails. Surrounding the cottage is a beautiful deck equipped with Muskoka chairs for you to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature.

The cottage has 4 bedrooms, each with two bunkbeds and an ensuite washroom, a kitchenette (including fridge and stove) and a living space for your family to gather.

Immediately behind the cottage, you will also find your very own, private campfire pit complete with seating.

Check-out time will be 11:00am on the last day of the booking. It is our expectation that you vacate the site at this time. Staff will be available to assist with check-out, if required.

Keys and any borrowed equipment can be left in the cottage upon your departure.

The cottage will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized prior to your arrival. High touch surfaces will be focused on along with the kitchen, washrooms, floors, door frames/handles, light switches, etc. However, we do recommend washing the dishes again prior to using them.

Basic cleaning products along with extra toilet paper, will be provided and can be used as needed. We are happy to provide more details about our cleaning and sanitizing procedures, if required.

When packing for your visit, the most important thing is to prepare for all types of weather including rain, sunshine, extreme cold & more. In order to enjoy a comfortable experience, please review the daily weather forecast, as you prepare for your visit.

• Bed linens (including sheets and blankets for twin beds) or sleeping bags & pillows

Car Camping

From May to October, individuals and families can spend the night at one of our beautiful campsites. We offer a wide range of sites – whether your ideal site is a scenic spot, tucked into the forest or out in the open, we have a spot for you. Each of our campsites has been carefully selected by our team to ensure you have access to the best views, ample greenspace, best sunsets – the real hidden gems of our property.

We have a wide range of campsites spread across our site. Some are out in the open, some on a secluded hilltop and some that are tucked away in the forest.

Depending on your needs, some of our campsites offer drive-up access, while others require you to park in a designated spot and are walk-up only.

During the booking process, we can share all our available sites and you can select the one that works best for you/your family’s needs.

Cabin Rental

Our beautiful Grove Cabins are available to rent from May to October! Renting our rustic cabins is a great way to try your hand at camping, while still having some of the comforts of your own home. Located in a secluded area not too far from the Main Lodge, you will have your own cabin for sleeping plus another cabin for indoor activities.
